So, what exactly is the difference between the Ford Edge and the Lincoln MKX? Well, besides the difference in the base price of these vehicles, there really is a lot of difference between these two similar models! They’ve been top competitors for as long as they’ve been found on the roads near Murrells Inlet and Florence, and when we compare the Ford Edge vs. Lincoln MKX in 2019, it’s not hard to see that both still offer great value for the money.
The Lincoln MKX is essentially a more luxurious version of the Ford Edge, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they come with identical equipment! However, as one might expect, both vehicles have a seating capacity of 5. The Lincoln does feature the heated and cooled seats as standard equipment, along with heated mirrors and premium synthetic seats. Each of these requires an upgrade in the Ford Edge. Likewise with the Lincoln vehicle’s driver’s seat and side mirror memory functions.
Of course, there’s one significant caveat. The 2019 Edge starts with an MSRP of $29,995. If you opt for the most recently released version of the Lincoln MKX–a 2018 model–you’ll pay around $39,035 MSRP.
The Ford Edge comes standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the Lincoln MKX offers a six-speed automatic transmission of its own. There is one advantage to choosing the Lincoln: You’ll receive a built-in Manual driving mode, so you can take control with the press of a button.
With a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine, compared to a standard 3.7-liter V6 in the Lincoln, the Ford Edge easily wins out as far as fuel economy is concerned. However, the base MKX does deliver a higher maximum towing capacity, so it might still be worth the cost if you often take adventures in the Conway area.
The warranty on the MKX boasts 4yr/50K mi. bumper to bumper with a 6yr/70K mi. powertrain warranty, while the Edge is 3yr/36k mi. with a 5yr/60k mi. powertrain warranty. Notably, the Edge also includes 5yr/60K mi. 24-hr Ford roadside assistance.
Despite the fact that the Ford Edge price is significantly lower than that of the Lincoln MKX, drivers interested in standard features will find that each model has some advantages over the other. However, before we see why drivers might choose the Edge, you’ll want to check out the unique features of the base Lincoln MKX:
Each of these features will cost you extra in the Edge if it’s available at all. However, those who are leaning towards the Ford model will be glad to learn that it has plenty of advantages of its own. Looking for a blind spot monitor or a lane departure warning? What about rain-sensing wipers or Wi-Fi hotspot compatibility? Each of these is standard in the Edge.
